Case 71: Ms. A, 38, was left in a coma, with broken back, ribs and both legs after a car accident in July. When she left the hospital, she learned she’d lost her job and been evicted from her apartment. She has no insurance and no way to pay for her medical bills. Her boyfriend had to quit his job to take care of her, and she is staying with her aunt. Ms. A could use food, household items and money for her medical expenses.

Case 72: Ms. H, 59, has been caring for her four grandchildren since their mother died. The children are 11, 12 and twin 16-year-olds. One of the grandchildren has a brain tumor. Ms. H is handicapped and living on a fixed income. She would appreciate any donations this holiday season and could use gift cards for food and clothing. Ms. H also would be thankful for a washer and dryer, and educational games for her grandchildren.

Case 73: Ms. B is a 28-year-old single parent of five children under the age of 10. Her baby, a 1-year-old boy, was born with a heart defect. He has had one surgery and will need more. Her 6-year-old son has asthma. Ms. B caught COVID-19 while she was working and pregnant with her youngest; Ms. B has not been back to work. The family's home was infested with bugs and mice and she had to throw out her furniture. She could use any help: clothing, furniture and toys for the kids.

Case profiles by Robert Patrick and Kim Bell of the Post-Dispatch.
