Larry Helm was among the first group of Marines who went to a specialized school for soldiers to learn Vietnamese language and culture. This knowledge came in handy when he found himself in an unexpected situation he looks back on fondly.

Max Zebelman was a U.S. Army medic. Helping wounded soldiers stay calm in order to heal from serious injuries awarded him the name “intern with the hypnotic voice”.

Don Ohmes was drafted into the Army and sent to Vietnam when he was a teenager. He looks back on his service and safe return as nothing short of a miracle. 

Frank Martinez was a Navy chef during World War II and the Korean War. Now, he looks back on his career with fondness, thinking himself “lucky” to serve for many years.
