• June 7: Police fatally shoot Isaiah “Vinny” Hammett, 21, a white man, after they say he opened fire on them with an AK-47 as they were serving a search warrant at his grandfather's home in the 5400 block of South Kingshighway. Interim Police Chief Lawrence O'Toole at the time called it a "firefight."

Police said they found 15 guns and a "quantity of marijuana" in the St. Louis home. Police said there were surveillance cameras mounted on the outside of the home that may have alerted Hammett to their presence.

His family has said Hammett's grandfather owned the guns in the home legally and that the AK-47 police say he fired wasn't functional.
