Presley Barker — just 11 at the time — was the breakout star at the 2015 Old Fiddlers' Convention in Galax, Va. The documentary "Fiddlin" introduces him and other young musicians who wowed the festival that year. Courtesy of the St. Louis International Film Festival.

It’s called the Old Fiddlers’ Convention, but this documentary about the 2015 iteration of the world-renowned old-timey music event in Galax, Va., spends much of its time focusing on the kids. Plenty of performances are interspersed with interviews with fiddlers, guitar-pickers and maybe the stray mandolinist. It was at this convention that an 11-year-old guitarist named Presley Barker won the guitar competition — for adults. Proving it was no fluke, he repeated the victory two years later. Barker, who is now 14, will perform after the screening.
