Weather brings out the fur in Clayton

"It's a day for chili," said Mel Lefkowitz of Clayton as he and his wife Dorothy walk on Polo Drive headed for Cafe Manhattan on Friday, Jan. 17, 2020. The couple, who have been married for 42 years, are wearing coats made of Canadian lynx and wolf. Photo by Robert Cohen, rcohen@post-dispatch.com

Regarding the photo accompanying “St. Louis escapes worst of wintry mix” (Jan. 18): As I was cleaning my plastic bottles and tin cans, getting them ready for recycling, hoping to lessen my footprint on the earth, it was hard to get the photo of the Clayton couple on the front page out of my mind. I’m sure they’re a very nice couple, but the optics of adorning themselves in Canadian lynx and wolf is hard to take. We’re trying to save the planet and all life on it.
