Future Marijuana industry draws potential growers

Expo volunteer Donna Schneider (left) listens to Jack Quade, from PerkinElmer, a global company that makes machines that test materials and substances on Monday, March 11, 2019, at the MOCANN - BIZCON Expo at Union Station. Quade said that the machines have applications in the cannabis industry where cannabis needs to be tested for purity. Quade said there are no cannabis testing labs in Missouri yet. Photo by J.B. Forbes,

We are among a group of licensed cannabis business owners who worked with Jay and Diane Czarkowski and Canna Advisors at various points in the development of our businesses. We were surprised and disappointed to see the Post-Dispatch’s March 12 editorial (“Secrecy behind medical marijuana licensing opens door for abuses”) implying that Canna Advisors is seeking to exploit Missouri cannabis hopefuls. Having worked closely with Canna Advisors, we can say clearly that nothing is further from the truth.

On the contrary, the team at Canna Advisors helped us organize, plan and build businesses in our home states with experience we wouldn’t have had on our own. They were valuable partners who worked with integrity and expertise. Simply put, they bear no resemblance to the people the Post-Dispatch editorial tried to make them out to be.

We’re not here to tell you that you have to hire Canna Advisors or any consultant to succeed in a license application or build a cannabis business. But we can’t stand by and let a team that worked hard to help us achieve our goals be smeared.

We trust Missouri entrepreneurs will do a complete, fair job of assessing potential partners, and the track records of winning license applications will speak for themselves.
