A few weeks ago, Aisha Sultan did an article on physical education teachers and classes ("10 worst gym class nightmares"). This week, I attended the Kirkwood School Board meeting and saw the physical education teacher of today. This young woman and her students were recognized by Kirkwood for earning over $26,000 in the fight against heart disease. Her school was fifth in the state.
This amount of money is more than some people earn in a year. Perhaps the Post-Dispatch should concentrate on that instead of stereotyping physical education teachers from the ’70s.
