I rarely agree with any suggestions that the Post-Dispatch editors write about regarding America's foreign policies but, reluctantly, I must write that your editorial "The ISIS crisis: Whoa" (June 18) about the sectarian war in Iraq is right on target.
Regardless of the degree of radicalism among Muslim governments (and their offshoots) that the U.S. faces, we will not be able to sort out the good guys from the bad guys among the fanatics. We and some coalition groups made a noble effort to establish some sort of democratic principles, but the fanatics and the many assorted jihadists groups have other plans.
During these sectarian wars, America should offer humanitarian aid for the refugees and continue our military presence to protect Israel, the only democratic nation in the entire Middle East.
