Look at the person sitting to your left.
Look at the person sitting to your right.
Tell them to “rest in peace.”
They could be the two people who will die today in Missouri because legislators have failed to expand Medicaid.
In fact, within one year, about 700 of your family, friends and neighbors will die unnecessarily; 700 families shattered due to legislative negligence.
What would it cost to save these 700 lives? $0.00.
Even better, the Missouri Chamber of Commerce estimates that Medicaid expansion would save the state more than $348 million over the next three years. Expansion would also save/create more than 24,000 jobs in Missouri by 2017, and it would provide health insurance to an estimated 300,000 more Missourians. Thus, expansion saves the state money, creates jobs and promotes the health and well-being of 300,000-plus residents. For these reasons and more, Missourians, like myself, have pleaded with our legislators to expand Medicaid.
Momentum is building. Attitudes are changing. Legislators are listening. Will you speak up and be heard?
Look again at the person to your left — and now your right. Is saving both of their lives worth the two minutes it takes to make a phone call to your legislators or sign a petition? Absolutely! Please make your voice heard and support Medicaid expansion today.
