Vote No on Prop A post-election party

Union leaders, including Mike Louis (second from right), president of Missouri AFL-CIO, celebrate as results are announced during a post-election gathering of union members involved in the Vote No on Prop A campaign at the Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 in St. Louis Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018. The proposition, which was defeated, would have added Missouri to the list of states with"right to work" labor laws. The photo  on the Aug. 8 front page of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch showed four happy pro-union Democrats, who were celebrating the defeat of Missouri’s “right to work” referendum, Proposition A.

I couldn’t help but notice that all the celebrants were Caucasian, male and middle-aged. Yet, no mention was made of their white race or male gender or seasoned age. I wonder why not?

If these individuals had been presented as President Donald Trump supporters, I’m sure that the Post-Dispatch would have dwelled on the old liberal chestnut that Trump supporters are all old, racist white men. Deplorables — yawn.

By the way, I supported the defeat of Proposition A.
