About Salem Methodist Preschool

Salem Methodist Preschool offers a fully accredited program for children of ages 2 1/2 to 6 years old, while providing a high quality early childhood experience to prepare your child for kindergarden and beyond.

Our mission is to provide a high quality early childhood learning experience for children of preschool age. Children of Salem United Methodist Church and the community will be involed in small and large group learning, which extends to the home experience. We also emphasis on the development and individuality of each child, and young children are nurtured in an atmosphere that encourages intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth.

Our high quality learning program is intended to supplement and extend early home experiences. In addition, separate music and movement classes are provided, as well as physical activities, including aerobics, indoor and outdoor play. A monthly session with the Nature Lady takes place as well.



Preschool Classes

Salem United Methodist Preschool provides a high quality learning program with emphasis on the individuality of each child. Young children are nurtured in an atmosphere that encourages intellectual, social, emotional, physical and spiritual growth. A variety of morning sessions are offered for children ages 2 ½ by August 1 through the pre-kindergarten age of 5.

Beginning 2 and 3 Year Olds

2 day classes – Monday and Tuesday mornings

3 day classes – Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings

3 Year Olds

3 day morning - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday mornings

5 day classes - Monday thru Friday mornings

4 and 5 Year Olds

5 day classes - Monday thru Friday mornings

All morning sessions 9:00-11:45 a.m. Early morning drop-off is available Monday through Friday beginning at 8:00 a.m. Lunch options are available that extend the day to 1:00 p.m. (lunch bunch) or 2:30 p.m. (extended day or enrichment). Children bring their lunch, with milk provided by the preschool. Registration is open for future school years.


Preschool Summer Camp

Each summer, our regular teachers and staff offer camp for young children ages 3 through 5. Children enjoy play activities including creative outdoor recreation, nature study, arts and crafts, cooking projects for snacks, games and musical activities. Classes are organized by age and all classes enjoy special visitors who enhance our themes. Children are admitted as space allows, on a first come basis. Preschool camp registration forms are available in the office and at Camp options include 3 day, 4 day, and lunch bunch. Call (314) 991-8601 for more information. School Hours

The morning classes are in session from 9:00AM. to 11:45AM with a variety of lunch options Monday through Friday afternoons. Early Arrival is also available Monday through Friday. The afternoon class is in session from 12:15PM to 2:45PM


Teacher Qualifications

Salem Methodist Preschool teachers are members of the Association for the Education of Young Children. Our teachers are degreed, experienced and some hold Master’s degrees. We are accredited by the Missouri Accreditation of Early Childhood Education and these studies are available in the preschool office.

Our staff members must be reviewed by the State of Missouri for child abuse and neglect and for a criminal record. These forms are also available for review in the preschool office.
Each parent receives and must sign a notification of teacher/pupil ratio and dates of inspections before their child enters the preschool.


Wee Chapel

At the Wee Chapel

Every other week children attend Wee Worship Chapel where Bible stories come alive through singing, puppets and costumed storytellers. Children are encouraged to participate in creating the stories with costumes and relevant objects that they can wear and hold.
