Dot’s commitment to the Alzheimer’s cause is personal. The company’s co-founder, Robert Tracy, passed away from Alzheimer’s in 2006. The company also recognizes that many of its employees have a loved one with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia and it’s there commitment that fuels Dot’s efforts. That’s why Dot’s support of the Alzheimer’s Association goes beyond just donations to an embrace of the mission to educate and create awareness about the disease.
Each year, all 13 US Dot locations (12 distribution centers and the St. Louis corporate sales office) hold an education and fundraising campaign. Additionally, employees have supplied meals for local dementia support groups and decorated and delivered cookies to local nursing homes during the holidays.
More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease – a leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 11 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
