Jon Alexander - Nature of Sound

Saint Louis, MO -

“Jon Alexander Brings Music to Nature With His New Series”

Inspired by his love of music and film, filmmaker Jon Alexander takes on his latest project: taking St. Louis musicians into nature and capturing them tapping into their natural creativity. Not new to music, the filmmaker got his start by filming cyphers, in-studio vlogs, and music videos. Getting back to his roots with his latest series “Nature of Sound” Jon Alexander wanted to get back into working with musicians but this time by getting them outside of their traditional elements. When asked about his purpose behind his new project Jon Stated, “I want to fuse the visual beauty of nature with the pleasant sounds of live instruments, vocals, and music mixes to create a sort of euphoric experience. It’s an intersection of some of my favorite artists and favorite parks, where each artist performs a song in the middle of nature; far away from anything suburban or city-like.” Jon Alexander hopes that the project gets creatives and viewers inspired to get outdoors and into nature. The Nature of Sound Series takes St. Louis producer and violinist Mad keys ( listed as one of “STL’s 77 Honorees” in 2018), singer Tonina (featured on Barack Obama’s 2018 favorites playlist), and rising DJ Hoodbunnny into different nature scenes varying across seasons.

Accompanying the Nature of Sound series will be a two-day venture: a live screening of the project, and a group hike. The goal of the series is to get people outdoors, familiar with the vibrant local music scene, and more in tune with nature. Jon Alexander will host a film screening on June 22nd along with a hike + picnic & dialogue with the collective All Black Creatives. The Nature of Sound series will be released online for all to view on July 28th after a series of intimate screenings and activations around the St. Louis area.
