James Dennis Serves As Shining Light of Leadership, Knowledge Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

There are countless healthcare providers who are performing amazing acts of compassion and courage to care for an extremely vulnerable population in long term care facilities. James Dennis is one of them.

James has several nicknames and roles: Gator, Captain Culture Change, friend, father, husband and administrator. He stepped up – and in – when COVID-19 hit one of our first facilities in April and has continued to be a shining light of leadership and knowledge.

A Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, James worked at Bentonview Park Health and Rehabilitation in Monett before being named regional director of operations for SRZ-Reach LTC, a premiere provider of skilled nursing and rehabilitation services. He supervises the Kansas City region, which includes Monett.

James has morphed into more than we even knew was needed or possible. Drawing from experience of positive culture change and versatility to adapt, encourage and empathize, James can be found building out walls for a COVID unit, consoling overwhelmed staff members or families – or on a sadder day, holding the hand of a dying resident.

James is a beacon of hope in the wake of these often-bleak times. He was called to serve, yet he has filled a void no one imagined.

A hero who would likely brush off the title, James shows us how care, compassion and a bit of humor go a long way and make a lasting impression in these unprecedented times.
