LARGEST ROTARY CLUB IN ST LOUIS HOSTS 21st ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

& RAISES $52,000 FOR NEARLY 20 LOCAL CHARITIES

(St Louis, MO) – Sept 21, 2022- Rotary Club of St Louis hit the links for a good cause with their  Annual Charity Golf Tournament on August 31 at the Norman K. Probstein Golf Course in Forest Park. The Club’s largest fundraiser of the year, the Tournament attracted nearly 135 players and raised $52,000. Last year, the event’s proceeds were awarded to a whopping 17 local charities during the Club’s annual Community Service Grant Celebration in June.

The Golf Tournament and Silent Auction are a major fundraising undertaking for the Club members, bringing in more than $400,000 over the past 10 years. Between sponsorships, volunteering and playing, 90 Club members participated this year. “All of the funds we raise at this event go to our Club’s chosen health and community organizations,” said Tournament Chairman Rick Tinucci. “Our goal was to raise $50,000 after expenses. That’s $3,000 more than last year. We exceeded that this year by raising $52,000.”

Event sponsors included Wilson Manufacturing, Air Comfort Service, Conway Contracting, Stifel Investment Services, Lashly & Baer PC, Niehaus Building Services, Olivette Lanes, Bank of America, Dobbs Tire & Auto, Sandberg Phoenix Law and Rassier, Long, Yawitz & Schneider LLP.

Auction top prizes included golf and meal donations from Sunset Country Club, Algonquin Country Club, Norwood Country Club and Muny tickets.

The 21st Annual Tournament began with a lunch and ended with dinner and an awards reception. While working hard to raise money, Club members made sure the event was also a fun day of business connections and friendly competition. A Flight golf winners were Kevin Leahy, Ed Strouth, Darrel Gable and Drew Baebler. B Flight golf winners were Jeff Douglas, Mike Regan, Chris Sarandos and Kent Steinbrueck.

Charities which benefitted from last year’s Rotary Club of St. Louis Annual Charity Golf Tournament were: Our Lady’s Inn; SLU Health Resource Center; Unleashing Potential; Champ Assistance Dogs; Boys Hope Girls Hope; Independence Center; Annie’s Hope;             South County Foster Closet; The Kaufman Fund; Marygrove; G.I.F.T.; Ready Readers; Lifewaters; Tabernacle Community Development Corporation; Lift For Life Gym; Marcy’s Project and Books For Newborns.
