Local Blacksmith Contestant on History Channel's "Forged in Fire"
Desloge, MO- November 6th, 2018 - John Wigger, co-owner of Hawthorne Forge blacksmithing, will be a contestant on the History Channel's "Forged in Fire" show on November 21st, 2018 at 8pm Central Time.
John Wigger grew up in Southeast Missouri and graduated from North St. Francois County R-1 School District in 2008 then went to Mineral Area College for a degree in electrical maintenance. Fast forward years later and John is an active man with several passions. John currently works at Central R-3 School District in the Maintenance Department and enjoys working with the students and staff there. John is member of the First Baptist Church of Desloge and works with middle and high school students in youth ministry. John is married to Erica Wigger and the two are expecting their first child in December. Although active with work, church, and family, in 2016, John pursued his passion for forging metal and started Hawthorne Forge, a blacksmith business, alongside Joe Nipper. Both Joe and John do custom blacksmith work and specialize in customized knives. John's blacksmith work caught the attention of the TV show producers of Forged in Fire and John was selected to be a contestant on the show.
If you aren't familiar with the show, each episode has four bladesmiths that compete in a three-round elimination contest to forge weapons, and then an overall winner receives $10,000.
There will be a community watch party for John Wigger at Central High School with doors opening at 7pm and the show starting at 8pm on November 21st, 2018. Seating is first come, first served. John invites you to attend and watch the episode with him. Details on the event will be posted on hawthorneforge.com and on Hawthorne Forge's Facebook page.
