ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Potbelly Sandwich Shop (1950 1st Capitol Dr. in St. Charles at the University Commons shopping center) announced today that its St. Charles location has been awarded with the 2019 24 Carrot Gold Food Safety Excellence Award. The St. Charles County Division of Environmental Health and Protection named Potbelly the winner for its ability to go above and beyond food code requirements to excel in sanitation and food safety.
“The team we have is incredible – our general manager Dan Harmon and assistant manager Hannah Wilson both maintain high standards for how they manage the location,” said Todd Stimson, who co-owns the St. Charles location with his wife Angela, as well as their partners Monica and Lawrence Boveri. “I couldn’t be prouder of my team for what they’ve achieved and what they continue to do every day.”
Selected among approximately 1,400 facilities, Potbelly was eligible for consideration for the 24 Carrot Gold Food Safety Excellence Award because it did not have any critical violations within the past year. In addition, at least 90 percent of the facility’s food managers must have completed a food safety certification class. St. Charles County recognizes that excellence is most fully achieved when the food service management wholly endorses employee education and training.
The St. Charles Potbelly location has been open since August 2016 and is one of four locations owned by the Stimsons and Boveris. The other three locations are also within the St. Louis metro area – Creve Coeur, O’Fallon and Clayton.
