St. Louis, MO (August 29, 2022) September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and Urology of St. Louis is partnering with two local groups to make cancer screenings easily accessible for those who might need them. Dave Sinclair Automotive Group dealerships in the St. Louis area have formed a partnership with iHeartMedia and Urology of St. Louis (USL) to offer free blood tests to help detect the disease. These free prostate screenings will be offered on three different days at three different dealerships in the St. Louis area.

“These screenings only take a few minutes, but the impact they can make on your life from a preventative health standpoint, can be profound,” said Dr. Matthew Spellman. “Catching any illness, including prostate cancer, in an early stage can often lead to more successful outcomes and that’s our goal in offering these free screening.”

Urology of St. Louis recommends any man with a family history of prostate cancer or who suspects any changes in their prostate health should be screened. It is also recommended all men over 45 get tested every other year. Every man who is screened during the free screening events will receive a letter from USL with their results. If the blood test shows results of PSA (prostate antigen) on the high end, the individual will receive a follow-up call from USL.

“Having a high PSA score does not necessarily mean you have prostate cancer, but it can be a strong indicator which is why follow-up appointments are so important,” said Dr. Spellman.

Dave Sinclair, Owner of Dave Sinclair Automotive Group dealerships, began spearheading the effort of offering free prostate cancer screenings to people in St. Louis 15 years ago, after undergoing his own battle with prostate cancer and beating the disease.

“The screenings are a small price to pay for a man’s life,” said Sinclair.

The walk-in blood tests will take place inside the dealerships’ showrooms at the following dealerships:

September 7:  Dave Sinclair Buick, 5655 S Lindbergh Blvd from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.September 14: Dave Sinclair Lincoln St. Peters, 4760 N. Service Road from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.September 21: Dave Sinclair Ford, 7466 S Lindbergh Road from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
