Novel with Missouri roots to release Sept. 19

The Life We Almost Had, the contemporary romance by best-selling author Laura Miller, will release to all major online book retailers Sept. 19.

This is Miller’s seventh novel and is the story of Berlin Elliot and Iva Scott, who first meet in a rural, Missouri town. And now, after seven years apart, they must choose between the life they’re living and the life they almost had.

“I fell in love with these characters from the first word," Miller said. "These two grow up in a little ghost town that has a post office and a corner store and a restaurant called Victor’s; and that’s about it. But they make the most of it, and I especially love their little town because it reminds me of a place that’s near and dear to my own heart. I was born in Berger, Missouri, west of St. Louis, and as I was writing, I was inspired by the small town’s charm. That being said, I’m so excited for this second-chance romance to be in your hands, and I hope you have the opportunity to venture into this story, come Sept. 19.”

Miller’s The Life We Almost Had is available for pre-order on,, iTunes and Kobo.  Find it here:

Full synopsis:

Back before everyone left the little town of Sweet Home to the ghosts, she was the girl next door. And he was the boy, who could never get on her father’s good side. But none of that mattered. The only thing that mattered was that her heart had picked him.

But that was years ago. And now, Berlin’s sister is praying for someone to show up to take her brother’s mind off the girl from his past. And surely enough, that someone does. But will this girl be able to cut the chains of his first love or will she just make him fall harder for that little girl he left behind in Sweet Home, Missouri?

One week is all they have.
