Belleville, IL to Produce 4 Downtown Murals

[BELLEVILLE, IL, August 2019]

Calling all art lovers! The Belleville Mural Project Committee, a dedicated team of a dozen Belleville residents, has been working closely with the zoning board, city council, and downtown business owners to bring high quality, interactive, public murals to downtown Belleville. After having received over 100 submissions in their national call for art, the team whittled their choices down to five. These four murals will be of the utmost professional quality and will bring a tremendous increase of foot traffic to the restaurants and businesses in historic downtown.

The mural locations are as follows:

Turned Treasures: 225 E. Main Street. Artist: Jessica Kopecky

Complete Supplements: 111 S. Jackson Street. Artist: Scott Pondron

Bennie's Pizza Pub: 124 E. Main Street. Artist: Allegra Lockstadt

Larissa Photography: 19 S. High Street. Artist: Lisa Frost

To celebrate this artistic accomplishment, the committee has planned a mural reveal party for Friday, Sept. 27 from 7-10pm. Located on Gaslight Patio on the corner of Main and Church Streets, this reveal party will have live music, downtown restaurant food vendors, a cash bar, and a raffle. There will be a chance to meet & greet all the artists and Belleville Mayor Mark Eckert will speak at 7:30pm. Admission is $20 with all proceeds going towards the project fund. Tickets can be purchased at Local Lucy's, Rising Stars Monogram Boutique, or online at

Friday's festivities will be followed by a Mural Fest on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10am until 3 pm. Artists will be installing their murals live on-site for the public to witness. Area high school artists will also be creating high end chalk art on the sidewalks for the public's viewing pleasure. Mark your calendars for this epic Belleville event! Come out to support small businesses and an amazing local art initiative that makes the entire St. Louis Metro even more of a destination for the arts.
