DENVER • Cardinals first-rounder Nick Plummer, an outfielder taken 23rd overall this past week, is scheduled to visit St. Louis this weekend so that he can finalize an agreement with the club.

Plummer, who will turn 19 next month, will receive a $2.124 million bonus, the assigned slot for the pick, The Post-Dispatch has confirmed.

His deal is pending the outcome of a physical.

The lefthanded-hitting outfielder from Brother Rice High School in Michigan will come to St. Louis at some point this weekend during the series against Kansas City so that the team can complete the physical and have Plummer seen by the major-league medical staff.

The Cardinals also like to have their high-round picks visit the major-league clubhouse, meet the staff, see the ballpark, and, if possible, even take batting practice on the field.

The Cardinals have traditionally had the pick sign his contract at the team's baseball operations office, too, as part of the visit.

The team, per its policy, does not confirm or announce deals until the physical is complete.

The Detroit News first reported the signing, citing Plummer.
