JUPITER, Fla. Cardinals lefty Kevin Siegrist said that he skipped a scheduled bullpen session Monday because of soreness on his left side.

He called the move “precautionary.”

The lefty was the only pitcher of the 13 scheduled to throw Monday who did not take the mound.

Siegrist, the Cardinals’ second lefty in the big-league bullpen and one of the young power arms set to go north with the club, did not know when he would resume throwing.

He said he was prescribed rest but was “not overly concerned” about the soreness.
