Paul DeJong has room for improvement — after May 1, he had a .700 OPS — and the Cardinals sure could use it in 2020.
John Mozeliak has led the baseball operations for the Cardinals since 2007, and his new contract will be a three-year extension to the deal that was set to expire after 2020. Adam Wainwright, a first-time free agent, and the Cards hope to work out a one-year deal that will keep him here.
He could take over at third base for Matt Carpenter, who is in the midst of what perhaps could be the most regrettable contract extension of president of baseball operations John Mozeliak’s tenure with the Redbirds.
