Warner, Pace, Bruce, Holt are Hall of Fame semifinalists

Four stalwarts of the Rams' Greatest Show on Turf teams are among 25 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2016.

For the second year in a row, quarterback Kurt Warner, offensive tackle Orlando Pace, wide receiver Isaac Bruce, and wide receiver Torry Holt made the semis.

Also among the semifinalists, announced Tuesday evening, are former St. Louis Cardinals head coach Don Coryell, linebacker/defensive end Kevin Greene, and safety Steve Atwater.

Atwater played his high school ball at Lutheran North High; Greene, a former Los Angeles Ram, played his high school ball in Granite City. It's the 10th time Greene has reached the semifinals, the eighth time for Coryell, and the fifth time for Atwater.

The group of semifinalists includes 22 players and three coaches. The rest of the list: K Morten Andersen, OT Tony Boselli, RB Roger Craig, RB Terrell Davis, coach Tony Dungy, OG Alan Faneca, QB Brett Favre, WR Marvin Harrison, OT Joe Jacoby, RB Edgerrin James, coach Jimmy Johnson, OT Mike Kenn, CB Ty Law, S John Lynch, C/G Kevin Mawae, LB Karl Mecklenberg, LB Sam Mills, and WR Terrell Owens.

Faneca, Favre, and Owens are all first-year eligible candidates.

The list of 25 semifinalists will be reduced to 15 modern-era finalists in January. In addition, QB Ken Stabler and OG Dick Stanfel are senior finalists, and owner Edward DeBartolo, Jr. is a contributor finalist.

The Class of 2016 can consist of no more than five modern-era finalists. The total class can reach eight inductees if both senior finalists and the contributor finalist are voted in. Voting on the finalists takes place Feb. 6, 2016 in San Francisco, the day before Super Bowl 50.
