Maddy Lant scored on a 40-yard free kick in the 92nd minute Friday to lift Minooka to a 2-1 victory over Edwardsville in the Class 3A Moline Sectional girls soccer final at Bloomington High.

Minooka (15-8-2) won its first sectional title and advanced to play Tuesday in the Class 3A Romeoville Super-Sectional at Lewis University against either Waubonsie Valley or Naperville North.

Lant also scored in the first half, but Edwardsville (15-9) — in its first sectional final since 2014 — forced overtime when Hannah Bielicke scored late in regulation.

The Tigers had a season-high five-game win streak snapped.
