About the Golden Knights

Once again considered a leading contender for the Stanley Cup, Vegas is 1-1-0, defeating the expansion Seattle Kraken 4-3 on October 12 and getting thumped 6-2 by the Los Angeles Kings last Thursday. The Knights have been off for five days entering Wednesday’s contest.

Vegas has a different look in goal after parting ways with Marc-Andre Fleury in a salary cap dump, and will lean heavily on Robin Lehner. Max Pacioretty and Mark Stone, the team’s top two goal-scorers from a year ago with 24 and 21 goals respectively, are out with injuries.

Without those two forwards, the Golden Knights might look to their mobile, skilled defenseman corps to provide more offense in the form of former Blue Alex Pietrangelo, Alec Martinez and Shea Theodore. The cupboard isn’t totally bare up front with the likes of Jonathan Marchessault, Chandler Stephenson and William Karlsson.
