About the Kings

The Blues are catching Los Angeles in a back-to-back situation, with the Kings in Dallas on Friday night where they lost 3-2 in overtime. LA gave the Blues fits last year, going 5-1-2 against them in the season series.

Anze Kopitar, in his sixth year as Kings captain, was strong out of the gate with a franchise record five points (three goals, two assists) on opening night against the Vegas Golden Knights, then he added a goal Friday. He has been the team’s points leader in 13 of the past 14 seasons. Dustin Brown is back for his 18th season with the Kings, the most in franchise history. And Drew Doughty once again anchors the defense.

LA added three veterans over the offseason, trading with Nashville for two-time 30-goal scorer Viktor Arvidsson, signing defensive specialist Phillip Danault in free agency from Montreal, and picking up defenseman Alex Edler from Vancouver. Quinton Byfield, the No. 2 overall draft pick in 2020, is out indefinitely because of a fractured ankle.
