Blues bring back Alaska as ECHL affiliate

{{featured_button_text}}

After having their East Coast Hockey League affiliate in Kalamazoo, Mich., last year, the Blues are going to back to an old favorite, Alaska, for their lower level minor-league team this season.

The Blues have re-upped with the Alaska Aces, who were their ECHL affiliate from 2005-2012. The Aces have won four consecutive regular-season titles and won the postseason Kelly Cup for the third time last year.

The Aces will also be the AA affiliate of the Minnesota Wild.

Among the Blues to pass through Alaska on their first go-around with the Blues was Ryan Reaves.

Rob Murray, who played in the NHL with Winnipeg, Washington and Phoenix, is Alaska's coach.

The Blues' AHL affiliate remains in Chicago.
