About the Wild: The Wild went wild against Colorado in an 8-3 victory Wednesday, tying the franchise record for most goals in one game. They’ve done it four other times in franchise history including an 8-3 victory over St. Louis on Feb. 27, 2018. On Wednesday, Kevin Fiala recorded his first NHL hat trick and now has 14 goals. Rookie Kirill Kaprizov added two goals, giving him a team-high 16 goals for the season.
Kaprizov scored Minnesota’s second goal in a 2-0 victory over the Blues March 25, the only time the teams have met so far this season. The Wild entered that game ranked last in the NHL in power-play efficiency at 10 percent. But they’ve moved up lately, currently ranking 27th at 14.8 percent; they scored four power-play goals Wednesday against Colorado.
The Wild are 6-2-1 over their last nine games, and at 24-12-2 for 50 points have a firm hold on third place in the West Division.
