About 400 riders ranging in age from 4 to 40-plus took part in the Supercross Futures races at The Dome at America's Center on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020. The amateurs raced on basically the same track the professionals in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross raced on the day before with a few minor modifications to the course and jumps. The riders competed in 27 different classes and on motorcycles from 50cc to 450cc. St. Louis was the first qualifying event of the year for the American Motorcycle Association National Championships that are held in Carson, California, in October.
Former professional motorcycle racer Shea Knuth of Bloomington, Illinois, got his daughter Collins Knuth, 4, a 50cc motorcycle she has been riding for about 4 months. This was Collins' first race. "I ask her every time if this is something she wants to do. She likes the whole experience of it," said Knuth, adding that it's a great way for him to spent time with his daughter.
