Ellisville police are boosting patrols this holiday season in an effort to reduce potential crimes.

The police department bolsters patrols each year from Thanksgiving until after Christmas. Officers work overtime patrolling businesses and shopping center parking lots at times when the largest numbers of shoppers are out.

The effort is designed to reduce thefts, robberies and stolen vehicles.

It also includes stepped up subdivision patrols in an effort to discourage potential burglaries while residents are away shopping or visiting.
