Library events

The Six Mile Regional Library District will host a series of computer classes this summer at the Niedringhaus Building, 2001 Delmar Ave., in Granite City. 

The next classes are "Microsoft Excel Online" from 6 to 7:30 p.m. July 29; and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. July 30.

Seating is limited and registration is required. A valid library card is also required. Call 618-452-6238, ext. 303 to register. For more information, visit smrld.org.

The SMLRD also has its 2015 Adult Summer Reading Program "Read to the Rhythm" now through Aug. 1

Sign up today and begin reading for chances to win gift cards and a Kindle Fire.

You can register at either of the library's Granite City locations — 2001 Delmar Avenue or 2145 Johnson Road.

Kids Crusade 2015

Kids Crusade 2015 will take place at 7 p.m. July 30-Aug. 1 at Rivers of Life Community Church, 3131 E. 23rd St., in Granite City.

There will be fun, food and prizes. It is for ages 5-12, but everyone is welcome.

Krispy Kreme fundraiser

Rivers of Life Community Church will sponsor a Krispy Kreme Fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 31 and Aug. 1 at Walmart, 379 W. Pontoon Road, in Granite City.

Proceeds to benefit Operation Shoebox. To pre-order a box or get a fundraising card, call the church at 618-797-7933.

Support group meetings

A National Alliance On Mental Illness Southwestern Illinois support group meeting for individuals living with mental illness is held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at Gateway Regional Medical Center, Pascal Hall, 2100 Madison Ave., in Granite City.

The next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 4. For more information about these support meetings, call 618-798-9788 or visit namiswi.org.

Yard sale

A yard sale will be held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 8 at Rivers of Life Community Church, 3131 East 23rd St., in Granite City.

You can also drop off items to donate. The money raised goes to help support Mercy Ministries.

Granite City Travelers

The Granite City Park District has announced the Warm Springs Ranch day trip on Aug. 20 still has space available.

Warm Springs Ranch in Boonville, Mo., is the breeding farm for the Budweiser Clydesdales and will include a tour of the stables. The trip includes lunch in a real log cabin at Settlers Inn and a stop at the Chocolate Factory in Columbia, Mo. The cost is $90 per person.

Rivers of Life school enrollment

Enrollment is now open through Aug. 14 for preschool through 12th grade for Rivers of Life Christian School, 3131 East 23rd Street, in Granite City.

40th high school reunion

The combined graduating classes of 1975 at Granite City High School North and Granite City High School South will be celebrating their 40th reunion on Oct. 3 at the Granite City Elks.

Free Clothes Closet
