A 29-year-old St. Louis man has been charged with the murder of a 23-year-old East St. Louis man in a shooting at the Pink Slip in Downtown Brooklyn.

According to a press release sent out Nov. 30, the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office charged Maurice Shelton, 29, with one count of murder in connection with the death of 23-year-old Water Taylor. A warrant has also been issued for Shelton's arrest.

Shelton was not in custody at the time of the press release and was last known to be in St. Louis.

Police allege that Shelton shot Taylor in front of the Pink Slip Club in Brooklyn Nov. 25. Shelton was working as a security guard at the club at the time of the shooting.

Anyone with information on Shelton's location is asked to call their local police department or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS.
