• Based at Junior Achievement of Greater St. Louis' Dennis and Judy Jones Free Enterprise Center, 17339 North Outer 40 Road in Chesterfield

• In its eighth year, the program provides hands-on economics education for fifth- and sixth-graders

• For 2010-2011 school year, 11,252 fifth-grade students participated, including those at JA summer camps

• Participation expected to jump to about 12,000 for the 2011-2012 school year

• Up to 125 students attend daily

• For 2010-2011 school year, 145 schools in the region participated (not including JA summer camps), from private and parochial schools and public districts including Rockwood, Parkway, Clayton, Ladue and Pattonville

• Cost for the whole JA BizTown program, including curriculum, teacher and volunteer training and site visit is $40 per student, with $15 of each fee normally provided by the school through a PTO or fundraisers. Fourteen corporate sponsors pick up the rest. JA officials say schools that can't afford to pay their share aren't turned away
