Elizabeth Quinn and John Riemer of Cape Albeon senior community were chosen to have their likenesses placed on a St. Louis County bookmobile.

Two residents of the Cape Albeon senior community in Valley Park are becoming familiar faces throughout St. Louis County. That's because large photos of them now adorn what had been a plain St. Louis County Library bookmobile.

John Riemer, a resident of Cape Albeon's Village Assisted Living Apartments for four years, and Elizabeth Quinn, a resident of Cape Albeon's Harbor Retirement Apartments since 2007, are among several people the St. Louis County Library chose to be pictured on the bookmobile.

Their love of books and reading was part of the selection criteria. The bookmobile makes regular stops at Cape Albeon, and Riemer and Quinn are among its most ardent patrons.

"I am a constant reader of all kinds of books," Riemer said. "Reading is a wonderful way to see and experience the world. I'm so pleased to be pictured on the bookmobile. It's quite an honor."

Books have always been a part of Quinn's life as well.

"I was a librarian for 35 years," she said, "including serving as the librarian on St. Louis County's first bookmobile in 1948 and 1949. So this is very rewarding and exciting."

Representatives of St. Louis County Library say the large, colorful photos will continue to adorn the bookmobile for many years.
