An 81-year-old Ballwin woman shot and killed her son after he attacked her April 25, Ballwin police said.
Johanna Walker called police at 1:04 a.m. after she shot her son in her home in the 700 block of Clayworth Drive, said Sgt Jim Heldmann, the department's public information officer.
Walker said her son, Brian Walker, 41, attacked her with a large knife. When he came at her a second time, she shot him twice in the upper torso, Heldmann said. A large fixed-blade knife and a revolver were seized from the home, he said.
Johanna Walker's right hand was wounded in the attack. Both she and her son were transported to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, where Brian Walker was pronounced dead at 1:58 a.m., Heldmann said. Johanna Walker was admitted and is still being treated, he said.
