Oscar Kebbel

Oscar F. Kebbel, 96, of Collinsville, died at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at the Edwardsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born July 24, 1911, in Collinsville. Mr. Kebbel was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville, where he was active in the Men's Club; retired from General Steel Industries in Granite City; was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Disabled American Veterans and the Senior Bowling League; and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

Survivors include nephews, Dennis Kebbel of Winter Park, Fla., Larry Berkel, Donald Parks, Gary Kebbel and Dennis Kebbel; nieces, Janice Coy, Beverly Kebbel Lenny, Nancy Leslie, Carol Nelson, Kay Jennings, Karen Shackleton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Anna (Marchert) Kebbel; two brothers, William Kebbel and Albert Kebbel; and two sisters, Ruth Parks and Norma Berkel.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Sept. 30, at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with the Rev. Fred Kraemer officiating.

Burial will be in the Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Collinsville.

Memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
