Case 52: Ms. L is raising her severely autistic 12-year-old great nephew all alone. She lost her husband, the family’s sole provider, five years ago. She was able to get a job, but then came the accident. She is now in a wheelchair and can no longer work. The family is falling behind on bills and faces foreclosure in the near future without help. Ms. L and her great nephew would greatly appreciate help to get caught up on their rent and utilities before they are forced out of their home. They would also benefit from gift cards for groceries and other necessities. Ms. L's one wish is to provide a nice Christmas for her great nephew, but she needs help to make that happen.
Case 53: Ms. T and her six children were displaced in May by the tornado that tore apart the roof of their home, destroyed the front porch and ruined their belongings. Ms. T, 35, works part-time but is struggling to make ends meet for her family while they shelter in a hotel. What few belongings the family had left in their home after the tornado were ransacked by looters after they took shelter in the hotel. Ms. T wants to help give her children hope by starting to rebuild. Two of her children have physical disabilities and behavioral health needs. She is asking for cash to help repair her home’s leaky ceiling and pay for utilities, and for donations for furniture, bedding, food, clothing, appliances and toys and gits for her kids.
Case 54: Ms. V, 55, has been the sole caretaker for her two grandchildren since their mother, Ms. V’s daughter, died last year. And in May, their home was wrecked by the tornado that tore apart the roof and walls and destroyed most of their belongings. Ms. V is on dialysis to treat her advanced kidney diseases and was forced to retire on disability, leaving her with a limited income. She is asking for help repairing the walls and roof of their home, cleaning mold damage from the basement, and is asking for donations of clothing for winter, toys, bikes, electronics and educational games for the kids.
