Residents are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and help save lives at the next Manchester Community Blood Drive on Friday, June 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Manchester Justice Center, 200 Highlands Boulevard Drive.
Donors can give either whole blood or choose a Power Red donation. Power Red uses a specialized machine to collect two units of red blood cells during one appointment while returning plasma and platelets to the donor. This type of donation can help nearly twice as many patients compared to a standard whole blood donation and is especially important for trauma victims, surgery patients and those undergoing cancer treatment. Power Red donations are typically available for eligible donors with Type O, A-negative or B-negative blood types.
Appointments are encouraged and can be scheduled at RedCrossBlood.org. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Blood donations remain critical year-round, especially during the summer months when donations often decline while demand remains constant. Every donation can help accident victims, surgery patients, cancer patients and people with chronic illnesses.
