Brooke A. Sharp, Esq., was selected as city manager for the City of University City by the City Council at its May 26 meeting. She was chosen from a field of more than 45 candidates when the city conducted a national search and selection process.
Sharp has served as interim city manager since February 2026, following the retirement of former city manager Gregory Rose. Prior to assuming the interim role, she served as deputy city manager beginning in February 2022 and assistant city manager beginning in May 2021.
Sharp will take the oath of office for the position as city manager at the June 22 City Council meeting.
“Brooke has demonstrated strong leadership, sound judgment and a deep commitment to the residents, businesses and employees of University City,” said University City Mayor Terry Crow. “As interim city manager, she has earned the confidence of the City Council through her professionalism, integrity and ability to lead during an important period for the community. We are pleased to officially appoint her as city manager.”
As deputy city manager and interim city manager, Sharp has overseen departmental operations, supported strategic planning efforts, and helped advance major infrastructure, economic development and community initiatives throughout the city. Her legal background and municipal administration experience have contributed to a wide range of operational and policy initiatives.
Sharp earned her Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law, Master of Public Affairs from University of Missouri-Columbia, and Bachelor of Science in psychology from Lindenwood University. She is an ICMA Credentialed Manager and a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the International City/County Management Association, and the National Forum for Black Public Administrators. Earlier in her public service career, she served as city manager for the City of East St. Louis and city clerk for the City of Dellwood.
